I am not from ENY, but I have been exploring it a little lately. Most project housing look pretty unwelcoming to outsiders. To tell you the truth, the first impression I had when I saw the Van Dyke housing (is that still considered as ENY or is it just Brownsville?), was that it was like a gigantic jail. The urbanism is scary, not the people. The people look just like everywhere else in Brooklyn. I was thinking: "how does that kind of architecture emerge? Why so ugly?" Anyone has a clue? What do the people who live(d) there think? Does violent urbanism create crime?
