Robert K.J. Killheffer

A pioneer of new media from the dawn of its commercial era, Robert K.J. Killheffer was Art Director and Head Programmer of Omni Internet, where he spearheaded a massive redesign widely recognized for its graphical beauty. He also served as Executive Producer of Omni's live web shows and events. Killheffer was on the charter staff of TV Guide Online as the science fiction producer. Later, he joined Simon & Schuster's online division, where he developed the hallmark web sites and interactive CD-Roms for the Star Trek books.

As part of the EH team, Killheffer was instrumental in launching and directing the Event Horizon spin-off, Tools for Health, now a fully independent company currently entering its second round of funding. He also served as publisher of the company's critically-acclaimed webzine, Event Horizon: SF, Fantasy, Horror.

Long fascinated by the parallel worlds of science and science fiction, Killheffer minored in computer science and majored in medieval history at Yale University. He has written on computers, computer culture, brain science, archaeology, and other related topics for such publications as Omni, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Penthouse, and Publishers Weekly. An expert in science fiction film and literature, he has also contributed a column to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and was a staff member and managing editor of The New York Review of Science Fiction; in this latter role, he was nominated for the Hugo Award on several occasions.
