Fred Dretske is professor and chair of the philosophy department at Stanford University. In Naturalizing the Mind, he develops a vision of the subjective aspects of the mind that roots them squarely in the natural world, a completely naturalistic account of consciousness based on understand what the mind is for and how a physical system can accomplish that purpose.
