We had a chat with her Monday, August 18. You can read a transcript here.
Amy Lee Segami is a Chinese-born engineer, who, utilizing her knowledge of fluid mechanics, literally paints on a surface of water with specially-treated acrylics and a pointed brush to create colorful images. These images are then lifted off with a piece of rice paper. With this technique, Segami has revived and transformed a 2,000-year-old Asian art form, suminagashi. She is also a professional speaker on cultural diversity and the integration of arts and science. For more information, you can contact her at: Segami Studios, 410 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605-1491 phone: 312-922-5811 fax: 312-922-5825 e-mail: segami@aol.com.
