Stephen Baxter writes hard science for creating innovative tales and novels in the tradition of Hal Clement and Robert Heinlein. Born in 1957, and raised in Liverpool, England, Baxter studied mathematics at Cambridge and received a Ph.D. from Southampton. He works in information technology. His first novel Raft, was published in 1991 to great acclaim, and was followed by five others, including Anti-Ice and The Time Ships.
